We want everyone to enjoy a safe and relaxed stay at Gilfach Wen Barn. To protect our guests, the farm, and the animals in our care, please read the following rules carefully. By booking, you agree to these conditions.
1. No Smoking or Candles
Smoking, candles and any open flames are not permitted anywhere inside the bunkhouse or in any farm buildings.
2. No Fireworks
Fireworks are not allowed on the farm under any circumstances.
3. Dogs
Dogs are welcome, but strict rules apply for everyone’s safety.
- All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times when outside the building, even when going to and from your car.
- The farm has free-roaming chickens and cats, and sheep and horses in the surrounding fields. Unfortunately, dogs have caused serious harm in the past. Even a dog jumping at a fence can cause a sheep to miscarry.
- There are no exceptions to the lead rule. If a dog is found off-lead, the dog and its owner will be asked to leave immediately.
- Dogs must not be left alone in the building unless they are safely secured in a dog crate.
- Please pick up after your dog anywhere on the property, including fields and the garden. Dogs can carry parasites that are fatal to sheep, and standard wormers do not protect against them.
4. Holiday Insurance
Guests are strongly advised to take out their own holiday insurance.
5. Working Farm Safety
Gilfach Wen is a working farm. For your safety:
- Guests must not wander around the farmyard or enter farm buildings without permission.
- Your booking includes access to the holiday barn, its private garden, and the car park.
- Our sheep are a rare breed trained to come when called. I am very happy to introduce guests to the animals, but please do not feed any animals unless supervised.
6. Firepit
A firepit and seating are provided in the garden. Guests are welcome to use them, but all fires must be kept inside the firepit provided.
7. Outdoor Music
- You are welcome to play music in the garden during daylight hours.
- After dark, please move any amplified music or karaoke indoors. With doors closed, you can enjoy your evening without disturbing neighbours.
8. Fire Doors
All bedroom doors, and the doors between the lounge, kitchen, stairs and front entrance, are fire doors with automatic closers.
These must not be wedged open.
9. Additional Guests
I reserve the right to enter the property to check numbers. Anyone staying who has not been booked and paid for will be required to leave.
10. Unacceptable Behaviour
Anyone who is aggressive towards staff or myself, causes danger to farm animals, or is likely to cause serious damage to the property will be asked to leave immediately.
11. Respect for Other Guests
To ensure an enjoyable stay for everyone:
- Keep shared areas tidy.
- Wash up and put your belongings away as you go.
- Use the bins provided and dispose of your own litter.
- Leave the kitchen and bathrooms as you would wish to find them.
- Only use the bunk assigned to you.
12. Departure
Before checking out, please leave the barn clean and tidy using the products provided, and inform me of any breakages or damage.
13. Recycling
Recycling facilities are available. Please recycle where possible.
Each group is provided with one black bin bag per week for landfill waste.
Booking Gilfach Wen Barn confirms your acceptance of these rules.
