To Do

Gilfach Wen Barn is not only easy to reach from the main roads into South West Wales, – but is also central for exploring all of South West Wales.

In this section of the website I have grouped together suggestions of places to visit and useful contacts based on distance:-

Local walks,  cycle routes and rides that you can do from the doorstep.

Beaches,   castles,  activity providers  within 30 minutes drive,

Within an hours drive.

I have also put together separate pages on special interests, for example :-

dog friendly attractions

activity centres

museums.

Some guests prefer to incorporate a leisurely day sight seeing into their journey to Gilfach Wen or when returning home, so I have also created pages with suggestions of places to visit when using any of the major highways to South West Wales.

I am both a tourism ambassador for the Brecon Beacons National Park, and for Carmarthenshire.  I have been the community representative   for over 12 years to the Cambrian Mountain Initiative.   –    All of which means  that I can assist guests  with any special requests. to make the most of their visit to South West Wales including their journey.

I  very strongly believe in being a proactive member of the community and helping to link visitors with local businesses.     For over 12 years I have been the chair of the local tourism association,  volunteering on  projects to link the local heritage and landscape and recreational use of the local forest and mountains for the benefit of the local community.   Tourists using village pubs and shops and visiting local craft workshops helps to keep the local villages viable places for the community to work and live.
